Virus warts (verrucae vulgaris, common wart)

These are contageous viral warts that are usually transmitted via moist/damp surfaces eg. swimming pools, showers, saunas, wet/damp floors etc. They pose as a small nodule which gradually becomes larger with a rough keratotic surface. The hands and feet are usually affected - but the face too can be affected and the whole body as in the cases of immune suppression or atopic dermatitis (neurodermatitis).

Viral warts have the habit of recurring after treatment and can multiply very quickly. A number of wart tinctures are available for treatment as well as operative removal. However ablation using the Erbium-YAG-Laser offers very good results.
